SOCIAL MEDIA
Digital Autonomy and Social Media go hand in hand but in education this seems to cause great concern. More often than not this concern comes from administrators or those running institutions rather than those who are you using Social Media for learning. View the video above which outlines some of these concerns as well as how some institutions are beginning to deal with these concerns.
The question then becomes if we need to deal with these concerns how should we deal with them? Should we ban teachers from using Social Media to communicate with students? Should we create policy for educators or should we create guidelines for appropriate use? The activity (under the Social Media tab) for this section will ask you to think about these questions and how institutions should go about making these policies or guidelines if they should. Prior to embarking upon the activity, take a moment to look at some of the Acceptable Use agreements from different institutions.
